Duck & Goose Calls

Duck & Goose Calling requires the same talent as playing a Musical Instrument. Both are instruments that have reeds, and requires practice to play at a Competitive Level. The Competition that we are speaking of is competing against other ducks. Once a quality calling level is achieve, it is ALL about the quality of your instrument.
The Duck & Goose Calls that we use (Cadence Calls, C & S Calls, & Watkins Calls) are all very easy calls to blow, requiring little wind to get them to perform at a high level of quality. We use 1 call for close, soft Timber type calling, 1 call for open water, loud, reach out and touch someone calling. But this difference in volume is not gained through blowing harder in the call. It is built into a quality call by the Call Maker. All 3 of the Call makers that provide Guns-Up Guide Service with calls, make a Timber (soft), Open Water (loud), and Goose Call. It is just a matter of ordering the style that fits your need. They are all custom calls and tuned to the performance level that you, the caller, needs to fit your style of calling. Practice to improve your skill, then buy a quality call, and notice the difference in your calling. Not in the sound you hear, but the response of the ducks you see next season.
We have never had one of our calls freeze up on us, and we hunt in single digits at least 2-3 times pure year. Plus they have a very smooth transition from the low Quacks to the high ringing Hail Call. We have used many calls in our years, but these calls are the best we have ever owned.
Seat Covers

After years of hunting, getting our trucks wet & muddy due to waders while loading our boats, wet dogs riding to and from home, and spilling coffee in the early morning ride from home to the our favorite hunting spots. Guns-Up Guide Service put on a set of Marathon Seat Covers, and I never would have thought that seat covers could make hunting so easy, less worrisome, and keep our trucks at a much higher resale value.
After putting on a set of Marathon Seat Covers (Front & Back) there are no more accidental messes to ruin the factory seat covers. The Marathon Seat Covers are completely water proof, making wet muddy waders, wet dogs, and accidental spilling a problem of the past. The material is of such strength that the dogs nails does not puncture, or rip the covers. This allows our dogs to ride in the back seat of our trucks, leaving the truck bed with much more room for our hunting equipment. Plus on the real cold morning, the dog doesn’t mind it either.
We will be putting the Marathon Seat Cover on our new trucks as soon as we buy them. Instead of trying to sale the truck with stained, dingy, Factory Seat Covers. We will be able to remove the Marathon Covers from the truck, and leave a brand new looking factory cover, that will give us a higher resale value. The Marathon Seat Cover will return your investment with a higher resale value when you get ready to sale you truck, plus give you years of "No Worry" use of your truck. Just wash with a Warm, Wet, Rag, and your truck is clean and ready for work on Monday. Guns-Up Guide Service will NEVER be without these cover on our trucks.

Mojo Wings "Magnetic"

The Pin Feather Spinning "Magnetic" Wings are one of the biggest and best improvemnts that we have used in the field. The ease of which they are put on, makes set up wearing gloves a simple task. No more trying to screw in a little set screw, dropping it in water, or even worse dropping the whole wing in waist deep water. Nothing like getting wet or losing a wing just before Legal Shooting Time.
With the Pin Feather "Magnetic" Spinning Wings, you just slip them on the spinning stud of the motor. No Screws to tighten or come loose and throw you wing off into the water. If you happen to drop the Pin Feather "Magnetic" Spinning Wing, just reach down and pick it up, it is floating. The Pin Feather "Magnetic" Spinning Wings comes in 2 sizes, of which we carry both with us at all times. We start off with the larger Open Water Wing that are a little larger and wider, creating more flash. Then they have the smaller, thinner wings that are Timber Wings, for when you need a little less flash. Guns-Up Guide Service mainly hunts Flooded Back Water, Timber Holes, and small pockets in the river. We start off using the Open Water Wing in every occasion. Then if we see that we are getting skittish ducks, and think it is due to the amount of flash we are producing, then we just walk out to the Spinner and change to the smaller Timber Wings. The change in made in seconds and doesn’t require turning off the spinner. Just slip off the Open Water Wings, and slip on the Timber Wings. No tools, tightening or effort required. Then biggest thing, we are back to hunting in seconds. These Pin Feather "Magnetic" Spinning Wings have made a major difference in our hunting.
Duck & Goose Decoys

G & H Decoys ! ! ! I don’t know if any discussion or write-up can do G & H Decoys justice. Guns-Up Guide Service has hunted with just about every decoy available, and none, absolutely none, has come close to performing to the level of G & H Decoys. We have hunted with 3 dozen G & H "Magnum" Mallard Decoy, 1 dozen G & H Widgeon, 1 dozen G & H Pintails (All Drakes) for 11 years. Guiding and Hunting with clients is about the toughest thing you can do to your equipment. We use the Texas Slip Style in rigging our decoys, this way they are quick to put out and take up. Our decoys are just gathered, hook the loops together and thrown in the boat. The clients are the main priority, and equipment is way down the list of concerns.
Although we changed to G & H "Super Magnum" Mallard Decoys this year, it was strictly a move to get a bigger block on the water, to be seen from a farther distance. Our 11 year old G & H Decoys are still in great working condition. The Green Heads are still very bright and have not lost any of their attracting abilities. These decoys were given to my son, and are still in use today, and fooling the Mallards on regular bases. On the occasion that we stepped on a decoy and put a small dent in it, we just drilled a small hole in the bend (like you would do a dent in a car), stick in a small wire hook and pull the dent out. Take a little liquid plastic, cover the hole, and the decoys is right back in action. I have only lost 1 of the 11 year old original set of 5 dozen G & H Decoys, and that was due to getting it sucked through the Airboat Fan, and that has been the only thing that we have found to completely ruin a G & H Decoy. We have been courted by a few other Decoy makers, but we have the decoy that Guns-Up Guide Service is using. No need to look farther.
